The Lagoons is a breathtaking city of seven districts divided into 14 suburbs, all of which are surrounded by tranquil waters and beautiful open spaces. The primary goal of the Lagoons is to enhance the Dubai creek coastline to create a self-sufficient and mixed-use development across the seven interlinking islands. PSI is responsible for the master planning and detailed design of all public areas including parks, promenades, roadways and amenity areas. Irrigated landscapes areas are in excess of 140 hectares with 20 million liters/day peak demand. Maximum water efficiency and minimizing runoff from the treated irrigation water into the adjacent creek are most important for this massive project.
This portion of the Pearl development outside of Doha, Qatar consists of 28 residential towers and a marina/shopping district. This family destination unravels around an enchanting harbor bordered by a clean white beach. PSI's work included the master planning and detailed design of all towers, boardwalk, marina and shopping district irrigation. The project was designed and packaged for each tower to be tendered independent and maintained as per each developers' requirements. Multiple pump stations and storage tank are utilized to maintain each plot separate from the rest.
Irrigation master planning for a 775 acre mixed use development at a former US military training facility. PSI worked closely with the developer on feasibility studies for use of various water supplies as required by the local water management district. The study contributed to an agreement with the local utility to bring reuse water to the site. We have completed irrigation construction documents with two landscape architecture firms for each of the ten phases of the development. PSI provided bid and construction administration services for the developer.
PSI was privileged to work directly with the developer of this exclusive beach community designed by new-urbanist architects/planners Duany Plater-Zyberk. PSI prepared an irrigation master plan and identified the most efficient water supply and the most sustainable irrigation applications that satisfied the conditions set by the local Water Management District. PSI prepared the developer's application for a Water Use Permit after determining the water demand for the build out of the community. The irrigation system design process responded to the unique architecture and site development to minimize well water staining on the exclusively white stucco homes and walls. A master control system, irrigation lake, central pump station, and master pipe system were designed for subsequent phases of the development. PSI is providing irrigation design services for a new multifamily beach side condominium tower that features a rainwater harvesting system.
This project involved the complete irrigation design for the expansion of the East Village at Disney's traditional neighborhood development located outside of Orlando Florida. Irrigation construction documents for a 125 acre expansion of the town of Celebration, Florida. Our design solutions included use of the reclaimed water utility, low volume irrigation, computerized control system, and allowances for expansion to the next phase of development.
PSI worked directly with DiVosta/Pulte Company to design a "universal" irrigation system for this 1200 unit 'turn key' residential community. The system uses a blend of stormwater runoff and reuse water from the local utility for the irrigation water supply. Three pump stations provide the volume and pressure needed for the irrigation of all home lots and common areas of the 480 acre site. A 'two-wire' decoder irrigation control system was used to water all home lots under a single controller program. PSI helped the developer schedule the system based on a two day watering window and the irrigation system hydraulics. PSI was tasked to design each home lot irrigation system as well as lake banks, entry features and amenity center.
WCI Communities hired PSI to design a master irrigation system for a new 150 acres resort residential community in Naples, Florida. The work included developing an infrastructure plan that would supply irrigation quality water to individual home lots, common area and sports turf areas near the pool complex. PSI applied local water management district regulations to size the system and set the total water demand and flow rate estimates. The project went into construction documentation for the pool, sports, entry area and large community park at the interior of the site.
